Lindsay seeks to develop a genuine connection with each person she works with by understanding where they are coming from and what is most important to them. She believes that each person has unique strengths that can help them to overcome challenges in order to pursue what matters most to them. Dr. Ives creates a nonjudgmental space to explore feelings, get curious about thoughts, confront fears, and work toward goals with authenticity and intention. She uses a strengths-based approach, celebrating wins early and often.
Lindsay views therapy through a cognitive-behavioral lens using a developmental framework. Her approach includes principles from Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She integrates individual and familial values into therapy, developing shared goals. It is important to Lindsay to recognize the ways that systemic oppression affects individuals and contextualizes their experiences. Lindsay makes an effort to understand important aspects of each person’s culture, background, and traditions in order to tailor treatment goals.
In her free time, Lindsay enjoys the rich live music scene in Nashville, as well as
watching UGA football and Duke basketball. She loves running, yoga, and going for walks with her dog Emmylou. Lindsay is supervised by Amy Mariaskin, PhD.
